To access the online features of Code Vein, you'll need to select the "Online" game mode at the title screen to enable online matchmaking. If you have already selected "Offline", please return to the title screen and select "Online".
To start Multi-player, you'll need to open up your in-game menu and select the "Multiplayer" option in areas outside of the base. From this menu, you can send out a distress signal to receive help from other players.
The Matchmaking Process
Matchmaking takes place when a host selects "Send a Distress Signal" and a guest receives the distress signal. The guest is to act as a helper to the host. As such, the guest must have made as much progress, if not more progress than the host in order to join the host's session.
Example: Clearing the Ruined City Underground and moving onto the Depths will prevent the Host from matchmaking with players who haven't completed the Ruined City Underground.
When you select "Multiplayer", your codename will be checked. If your codename contains anything inappropriate, it will be replaced with "Revenant".
P.S. There are areas within Code Vein where you cannot use this feature (ex: The area between the "Poisonour Butterfly Nest" and "Dried up Trenches Entrance"
Joining
On the guest's side, selecting "Search for Distress Signals" will initiate matchmaking with a host. If the host has set a password, guests must set the same password in order to match with the host. If no distress signals have been sent, a message will appear saying "No distress signals seem to have come in."
Network Settings:
Matchmaking Password: Set a password for your session so that only other players who use the same password can join your session.
Character Name Display: Use this option to display either your online ID (PS ID, Xbox Live ID, Steam name) or codename
Codename: Your codename is a name you create for use in multiplayer. It is separate from your character's name. When you select "Multiplayer", your codename will be checked. If your codename contains anything inappropriate, it will be replaced with "Revenant".
Area Restriction: There are two options available: No Restrictions and Same Area. If you select Same Area, this will limit your multi-player experience to the area you're currently playing in.

Same Region and No Restrictions. Players who choose "No Restrictions" will be matched together, even if in separate regions, while those who choose "Same Region" will only be matched with others in their region.
